Today a somewhat truncated one I am afraid, for being some 1500 miles south of the pitch, I am relying on the Eurostat high above the earth as it spins on its axis.

Jungle drums, however, have reached me in the form of SMS , so here goes. The match was away yet again, versus Boot & Shoe FC of Nantwich.

Apprently the sun was there for you in Blighty, but I have to say, as seen by my accompanying photo, no such heavenly body was shining hereabouts – the Med being in a very tormented and boiling state. Poseidon was truly an angry God. Perhaps because of the clocks changing.

I have to report that AFC won the game. Won. Yes. I did not mistype.
James Bebbington, joint manager tells me we came back from being 3-1 down to claim victory in a well deserved score of 4-3 to us!

Scorers were the young young guns in the main, with Sam O'Hara, Joe Benson, Lewis on the score sheet along with the more mature Gaz Jones. And we did in fact have a penalty not converted!

I hear Kev Walters had to go off injured and that Kev Rodgers proved his ability as an all round player by going back to be defender. So much so, he was awarded Man of The Match.

The obvious conclusion: I must go away more often!
Now to a cool southern glass of lager.
Or a very palatable rose wine. And a dish of octopus in garlic sauce.

AFC Chairman
PS. It is untrue that I am over here to try to sign a new striker from the reserve team of Real Madrid.
