Saturday 6 July. Audlem .v. Whitmore

Audlem maintained their challenge at the top of the division after their five wicket home victory over Whitmore on Saturday.

Stand out performances on the day from Ron Paul who took four wickets whilst only conceding a single run bowling in tandem with Dave Parkinson ( 2 for 14 ) who wrapped up the visitor's innings as they collapsed from 98 for 4 to 109 all out. Earlier in the day Abijith Jayan. Jack Allman, Vijayan Rahul & Simon Swift had all claimed a wicket apiece in a disciplined performance with the ball backed up by excellent work in the field.

What looked to be a regulation run chase soon turned into something completely different as the hosts were also on the receiving end of some fine bowling from Whitmore's openers, Owen Lawton & Zakanya Zaheer who had five batsmen back in the pavilion with only 30 runs on the board. When Simon Swift walked out to join Tom Measures at the wicket the target looked a long way off but the pair of them buckled down to their task and saw off the dangerous openers before starting to pick apart the change bowlers with a fine array of shots and bring their team home in the 35th over. Simon finished on 22 not out off 75 deliveries whilst Tom completed his second consecutive half century finishing on 58 not out off 93 deliveries.

Next week Audlem are away to Stafford at the Riverside Ground with a 1.00pm start time.
