Audlem Co-op break-in last night

Audlem's Co-operative food store was broken into last night – it is thought at about 3.00am. We understand that cigarettes, possibly amongst other items, were stolen.

At one point during the night there was smoke rising out of the shop. This, we are told, was from an anti-theft device, which unfortunately was not successful in its purpose, but led to the fire services being called, and residents being temporarily evacuated from the flats above.

The police are asking if any neighbouring businesses saw anything. If you saw anything suspicious, or have information that may be useful, please call the police on the non-emergency phone number 101.
