Audlem Bowling Clubheld its first internal competition of the year on Sunday.

The Dave Hickson Doubles was attended by 30 members who all enjoyed a competitive yet friendly day of bowls in glorious sunshine. With the schedule for the day, expertly organised by Lesley Davenport.

After numerous preliminary games and two close semi finals, the final saw Thelwell family loyalties split between the pairings of Vera Thelwell/Kier Glover and Keith Thelwell/Todd Ridge.

In a tense final that ebbed and flowed over the first few ends, Vera and Kier finally broke the resistance of their opponents to take the first trophy of the year.

The bowling season starts in earnest next week with Audlem fielding 12 different teams across multiple divisions in both afternoon and evening leagues.
