Many people wondered (on ChatBox) what on earth the loud explosion was on Monday evening – it turns out that it was a very noisy rocket. Several voiced concern – especially for pets and other animals. The following 2 ChatBox comments reveal the what and why:-
Hi Nigel, we like you were disturbed by the very loud bang last night at an extremely inconsiderate hour and were wondering what it was. But whilst walking across the field at the back this morning, just below your paddock, I saw something sticking out of the grass at 45 degrees, which turned out to be, on closer inspection, the broken shaft of a substantial rocket that someone in the immediate vicinity had loosed off. It appeared to be in very good condition, no exposure to the elements, so I assume that this was the cause of the explosion which must have been upsetting to many of the local residents and their pets.
From Nigel Mottershead:-
Thanks to AoL, we have found out what the bang was.
It was indeed a rocket to commemorate anniversary the passing of the daughter of one of the neighbours. It turned out to be a bit louder than expected.
Thank you for letting us know and out thoughts are with you.
