Audlem Saints concluded the current competition yesterday with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Betley. The win secured the runners-up spot in the 10 team competition. Most remarkable is that they completed the 18 game programme without being beaten! They played 18, won 15 and drew 3 games. The Champions (Wistaston) were similarly unbeaten but drew one game fewer and so just pipped us to the title. Well done to them.

The most remarkable feature of the season has been the disciplined, controlled defending. The team has kept 8 clean sheets and conceded 2 goals in a game only twice (both times in draws with the eventual Champions).

In total, Audlem conceded only 12 goals in 18 games. That means that Audlem conceded a goal every game and a half on average which puts them ahead of the current league leaders in England, Spain and Italy! Audlem have conceded 12 in 18 games – one goal every 1.5 games

Manchester United haved conceded 18 in 24 games – one goal every 1.3 games

Inter Milan have conceded 17 in 21 games – one goal every 1.2 games

Barcelona have conceded 18 in 20 games – one goal every 1.1 games.

Well done to all the boys...but no rest as the new competition begins this Sunday!
