Audlem 2nds V Moddershall Phoenix 13 May 2017

Early table toppers Moddershall won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. They started off very strongly and had put on 40 in the first 4 overs before H Dhar struck to remove Ranchagodi. H Dhar was bowling very impressively at a good line and pace and troubled all the batsmen. After a poor start, Audlem stuck gamely to their task and were in the game by taking regular wickets and keeping the scoring rate at 4 an over.

However, Moddershall had Dinesh Cooray up their sleeve. The tall left hander played a magnificent, chanceless innings of 89 and led the away team to a daunting 184 off 40 overs. H Dhar was the best of the Audlem bowlers taking 4-59. Roberts and Atiq took 2 wickets each.

In reply, Audlem were never in the game and lost regular wickets. Skipper Shenton made an ebullient 26 but the pick of the batsmen was Danny Thorburn who made a splendid, fighting 54.

Audlem were all out for 131 with Jaithilaka taking 5-32.

Moddershall were comfortable winners by 53 runs.
