Aston & District W.I September 2018 Report

At our September afternoon meeting our President Jenny Bourne welcomed members and visitors and thanked everyone who came to our successful Skittle Evening in August.

This month all classes are continuing as usual.

The walking group are meeting on Wednesday 12th September at the Hand and Trumpet at Betley at 10.30 am.

On the 11th September, our Luncheon Club will be at The Swan, Marbury, 12.00 noon for 12.30 pm.

Our President congratulated Margaret Bourne and her bowls team for coming first in the Malbank Group Competition. Well done.

The Autumn Malbank Group meeting is to be held at Worleston when the speaker will be Christina Trevanion.

Our speaker for the afternoon was Rev Canon Michael Burgess with his talk "The Seven Deadly Sins". This proved to be a humorous look at both Sins and Virtues. It was not only hilarious but very, very entertaining with lots to interest us all. He rounded off his talk by reading a poem by John Betjeman "Meditation on the A30".

The vote of thanks was given by Pauline Higham.

Our competition was a Limerick, won by Janet Spencer.

We then all enjoyed our tea and cake.

On Wednesday 12th September we are having our Fundraising Fashion Show by EWM of Nantwich at St Andrews Methodist Chapel in Aston at 7.30 pm followed by refreshments and a raffle. You are all very welcome to come and join us.

Our next meeting is on 5th October at 2.00pm in the afternoon when the speaker will be Mrs Natalie Kirkham "Eat for your Life".

New members and Visitors are always welcome.
