Aston & District W.I. June Report

Our President Glenys Inight welcomed members and visitors to a special VE Day celebration meeting.

The room was decorated in red, white and blue and some colourful outfits could be found together with a couple of Land Girls.

Following the singing of a Jerusalem a minute's silence was held in memory of a Past President, Janet Spencer, who passed away recently.

Business was kept to a minimum, but members were informed of all the forthcoming Cheshire Federation events.

The Walking Group, Luncheon Club, Darts Players, Bowlers, and Nantwich Show group are all meeting in the coming weeks.

Our VE Day meeting then sprung into life with a game of Bag Beetle which everyone enjoyed once the rules were explained. A delicious supper was then served which the committee had prepared. The evening rounded off with a patriotic sing song and all agreed it had been a very happy and sociable evening. The competition for a War Momento was won by Elizabeth McMahon Jacob's.

Next month's meeting will be held on Friday 4th July at 7.15pm in Broomhall and Sound Community Room. Our speaker will be John Dwyer on "Plodding to the Top".
