This coming Saturday's walk is a 10.5 mile circular walk in the Goyt Valley with a total of 650 metres of ascent.
There is an option for those that wish to shorten the walk by approximately 2 miles and avoiding the final 100 or so metres of ascent.
We start off by the reservoirs and visit the ruins of Errwood House, which had to be demolished when the reservoir was built. We then make our way past an old shrine as we ascend up to Cats Tor and then along a ridge to Shining Tor, the highest point of Cheshire.
After a descent those wishing to shorten the walk can take a minor road back to the car park whilst the rest of us climb up to Burbage Edge. In the final section there is one steep descent when care is needed.
This is a very pretty walk in good weather (!) and rates as 3 Boots on the ARS scale of difficulty.
Meet at Audlem car park at 8.30am on Saturday 14th July.
