Another road closure next month

It's starting to look as if there's a conspiracy to prevent residents of Audlem and Nantwich ever meeting.

Following the recent closure of Wellington Road into Nantwich from Audlem and this week's part-closure of the A529 at Oakes Corner, now comes news that the Nantwich Station level crossing will be closed for a week next month.

The closure is necessary to enable Network Rail to carry out level crossing renewal works next to the Station in a safe working manner. It is anticipated that the works will commence on 24th April and will be completed by 30th April 2010. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

The alternative route during the closure will be via A529 Audlem Road, Peter de Stapleigh Way, Elwood Way, Newcastle Road, London Road, Hospital Street, Prattchitts Row and Station Road.

You could also consider going to Nantwich via Coole Lane and then up Shrewbridge Road. This might well be preferred by those lucky owners of tanks, tracklaying vehicles or cars with strong enough suspension to cope with the appalling road surface.

Or then again, maybe walking or navigating the canal may become the preferred option if there's many more road closures.
