An important prominent correction

This morning, AudlemOnline had its first, possibly of many, calls from the new Royal Charter (son of Lord Leveson) comptroller of the media insisting on a correction to one of today's stories under pain of a fine of 1% of our annual turnover if we failed to do so.

When we pointed out that all our stories this morning were April Fool spoofs, we were informed in no uncertain terms that the Royal Charter rules apply every day of the year and now allowance is made for 1st April. Stories must be entirely accurate.

In our story about Audlem's new flag, we included the phrase that Audlem FC would even have a good chance against those smaller nations such as San Marino and Liechtenstein and also those at the bottom of the international rankings like Luxembourg and Scotland.

This has attracted the attention of the Stenhousemuir branch of the Football Association of Scotland and several irate Scottish football fans who have complained to the new media watchdog.

Correction

We are pleased to point out that our comment 'those at the bottom of the international rankings like Luxembourg and Scotland' should have read 'those at the bottom of the European Nations World Cup Qualifying tables who have yet to win a match.'

Our abject apologies for not making this clear.

The Royal Charter

While it has not been clarified whether websites such as AudlemOnline have to sign up to the new Royal Charter, it appears that 'news gathering' websites will be covered by the new rules.

The Royal Charter was a bodge-up agreed by all three major parties a few weeks ago, with the totally independent group of celebrities in Hacked Off present in the negotiations. Parliament then hurriedly passed the Charter with virtually all MPs united in their determination to avoid the media ever again exposing their dodgy expenses and lavish spending of taxpayers' money at John Lewis department stores. (If this is not true, another Correction will be published tomorrow.)
