An apology

An abject apology for the relative lack of news today – but there is a reason, of sorts.

The stories have been pouring in recently but many correspondents have asked that we do not publish their fascinating tales of woe, mischief and mayhem until the start of the new month.

We can't imagine why so many news items have been embargoed like this – perhaps all will be revealed on Tuesday.
