It finally happened! At 3pm on Saturday 27 September Farmer Tim Rees gently led his beautiful Friesian cow (the wonderfully named ‘Promise’!) from his barn to the 50m square ‘field’ laid out for her performance.
At 3:15 Promise stepped into the field, looked calmly around, put her nose down, and started to munch. Thanks to all that rain we’ve had, the grass was LUSH! Promise was very happy. Munch, munch, munch, step, step, step, munch, munch, munch… (repeat!).
At 4.15 she was still at it – Munch, munch, munch, step, step, step, munch, munch, munch… No discernible pattern, but she covered quite a wide area in her travels!
At 5:15 we were getting a bit antsy…
But at 5:25 Promise delivered! Our worries were over!
Farmer Tim led Promise away and we rushed over with our stakes and measuring tape to record the exact position of the centre of the cowpat.
This information has now gone to the official adjudicators who are busily working their way through the pile of Forms (so many! Hurrah!).
Winners will be notified as soon as possible after 4 October, and we’ll be shouting about it here too! Was your X anywhere near that stake?????
