Following on the report of Cheshire East's commitment to support the Voluntary sector (click here for the article), here is some extra detail of the presentation which ADCA made at the cabinet meeting

ADCA were asked to attend last Tuesday's CEC Cabinet meeting to help contribute to the report, 'Connecting Communities – partnership with the voluntary, faith and community sector' which was being considered and was agreed. I attach the report for you information. ADCA were invited to give a 10 minute input at the beginning of the item by Cllr. Rachel Bailey, our local member and leader of the Council, who asked us to share why we think small charities like ours are effective.

I attach a summary of our input which Phil, Ronni and Lynn helped with , including Jessie's poem which she read out with aplomb, Mo and Stan also came along for the ride and we enjoyed the spring blossom and sunshine. Our input was well received and got lots of support from Cabinet members and other Councillors in attendance

One particular point I made was picked up by Rachel and the lead member asked to respond – to the need for much simpler old style grant type processes for small organisations who operate in church halls and community centres alongside the more complex tendering processes. As you know, many groups are put off tendering given the onerous requirements for policies and procedures etc. The response was that, yes, this was part of the report and would be followed up!

And the other good news is that our appeal through the Coop Community Fund has now closed and we have been informed that we have over £1,300 towards our equipment needs at the Annexe.
