ADAS volunteers light Audlem

Yesterday we, members of ADAS and very good volunteer assistants, spent many cold damp hours in lighting up the village for the Festive Season.

A fine body of folks worked very hard to give everyone a good show. First we had Richard Furber transporting the Big Tree from its plantation after Pete "Mumbles" had cut it down.

Then the 45 small trees were harvested from a plantation near Conwy. During the week ADAS committee members Julie Hesketh, Ann Wollaston, Bill Consterdine, Mike Hill, Helen Waters, and Mike Haines plus myself dressed the small trees with masses of lights.

Then, yesterday, we started at 9.00am placing the trees around the shops and houses. David Latchford joined the team to get it all done by 12.00. Jonathan Gleave brought the 30 foot big tree from his yard and Pete trimmed it so that we could fit it safely in place.

Then the task of lighting it with thousands of lights. Mike Haines, Russ Waters, Pete and Phil Baker laboured on this and the other living trees all day. Phil Baker working his magic in getting all the electrics to work.

All was over by 8.00pm. We do hope you enjoy the result. All the lamps are LEDs so little power is being used.
