Peak Oil

The July meeting of environmental group ADAPT, (Audlem and District Acting Positively for Transition), will take place on Wednesday 6 July at 7.30 pm at the Baptist Church. This month local man, Martin Dominic, will give a talk entitled, 'Peak Oil'. This refers to the point at which global oil production reaches its peak and begins to decline. Clearly, this is an issue which will affect everyone across the globe. Speaking in 2010, businessman Richard Branson warned that , 'The next five years will see us face another crunch – the oil crunch. This time, we do have the chance to prepare. The challenge is to use that time well.'

We are all becoming too aware of rising oil prices. Martin will explain how oil is produced and why costs are rising. He will go on to describe the increasing drive to exploit more difficult and less economic sources and conclude by discussing the impact of 'Peak Oil' in both the short and medium term.

Everyone is welcome. The presentation will last for about 45 minutes and visitors can then choose to stay on for the formal ADAPT meeting or melt into the night !

ADAPT monthly meetings with speakers are held on the first Wednesday of the month at the Baptist Church in Audlem at 7.30 pm.If you would like to go on our mailing list or would like to know more about ADAPT, contact Susan on 811092 or at runaways@hotmail.co.uk">runaways@hotmail.co.uk.
