ADAPT Saturday Market. Saturday 4th October
Lord Combermere Carpark.
After a week of preparation, I entered our local annual County Honey Show and Bee Keeping Competition and to my surprise I did exceedingly well, winning 6 First Prizes and 4 Second Prizes from 13 different classes entered.
Honey will be for sale on the market on Saturday. I didn't manage to do much in the garden this week, but in order to keep the tomato plants healthy, all the damaged and dying leaves and stems need to be removed and composted and, with luck, greenhouse tomatoes can continue to be ripened until December.
Due to the possible inclement weather forecast for Saturday our market gazebo will be tied down so it doesn't disappear into the next county.
On the market this week will be a selection of preserves and chutneys including a batch of High Dumpsie Deary Jam made from a very old (1969) WI recipe and it was described as a vintage recipe THEN!!. Its mainly Apple, Pear, Plums flavoured with Lemon and Ginger. The Recipe is available on the stall.
We will also have Free Range Eggs, Apple Juice, Free apples, possibly runner beans, and other fresh vegetables.
10am till noon on the Lord C carpark Audlem
Don't forget that it will be our last Community Apple Pressing Next Saturday over on the Methodist Chapel Car Park, with space for car loads of fruit to be processed.
