ADAPT Saturday market. Saturday 5th July under the Buttermarket.

One week ago we were smiling with a heavy crop of Blackcurrants and Cherries; you blink and lower your guard and the blackbirds have had the lot. It's difficult to net Cherry trees and the black currant netting obviously wasn't bird proof. Lesson learned. However, do not despair, one of our better gardeners has managed to keep the marauders at bay so we will have Red Currants , Blackcurrants, and Red and Green Gooseberries. Hooray. There are still a few sticks of Rhubarb available, but the old gardener's rule is come end of June do not prune. This gives the rhubarb crown (root system) time to recover before winter. They still need plenty of water in dry periods.

We have Rhubarb and Ginger Jam, Rhubarb and vanilla Jam, Lemon Marmalade, Orange and Lemon Marmalade, Lemon and Ginger Jam, Apple Jelly and Red Currant Jelly, not forgetting a brand new batch of local Honey.

  • Also there will be Apple Juice, Free range eggs and sweet peas.
  • Perennial Plants for your borders, pansy, tomato, sage and Celeriac plants.
  • As its the salad season we have lettuces.

Thank you for your donated plant pots, we would not say no to some more. We recycle your egg boxes every week and if you have any empties at home our stock is getting depleted.

If anyone is following the saga of brassica patch, the offending rabbit has been captured.

Please visit the ADAPT Saturday Market 10am till noon this Saturday under Audlem's Buttermarket.
