At the Parish Council meeting on Monday, Chris Knibbs of ADAPT (Audlem & District Acting Positively for Transition) put forward a strong case for the adoption of a 20mph speed limit in the centre of Audlem.

The proposal would set out to limit speeds to 20mph along the A525 from Audlem Brook bridge to the East to the canal bridge to the West, and along Cheshire Street (the A529) to just beyond the Scout & Guide Hall.

Chris described the two main types of scheme for a 20mph restriction

  • A zone which requires traffic calming measures
  • A limit which requires only signage.

The full text of the ADAPT proposal can be read on their website, here.

Councillors voted to request that a survey be carried out along the relevant roads to establish what the speeds actually are now.
