Activities on the Shropshire Union canal

The Shropshire Union Canal Society have now finalised the dates for their activities and events for 2007.

They will be holding Lockwinds at Cholmondeston Lock on the weekends of 24th – 28th May and 23rd – 27th August.(Contact Paul Mills on 0151-3361049)

The Nantwich Rally takes place on 22nd to 24th June (Contact Moira Cain on 01270-624550) and the Ellesmere Festival and Boat Rally will be on 7th – 9th September (Contact Paul Mills on 0151-3361049).

The Annual Dinghy Dawdle on the Montgomery Canal will now be on Sunday, 10th June, not as previously announced, and this year is expected to finish at Llanymynech. (Contact Terry Wain on 01686-630240, Mon-Fri daytime only)

In addition there will be a monthly Montgomery Canal restoration work party at Crickheath on the first weekend of every month (Contact Mike Friend on 01948-880723).

On the Shropshire Union main line canal there will be an Enhancement work party between 22nd March and 1st April to install ringed visitor moorings between Bridges 7 and 8 and to do some work on mileposts in the area including the replacement of a broken one with a modern, dated replica.
