There has been yet another accident at Swanbach at the exit of Bagley Lane onto the A529 Market Drayton road; fortunately no one appears to have been injured.
Although we don't yet know the cause of this accident it again highlights the need for the proposed 40mph speed limit to be introduced as soon as possible before there is a fatality at this very dangerous point.
Audlem Parish Council has been actively pursuing this matter but Cheshire East Council has been aware of this situation for years and has now placed the potential speed limit enforcement area as a priority with finance for the change allocated.
There are some bureaucratically required procedures to be completed but these now need to be accelerated in order to achieve a safer piece of road and reduce the likelihood of further occurrences, which may not end next time without serious injury or death.
Cheshire East Highways department stated that it was hoped that the speed enforcement would be in place either by the end of this calendar year or by the beginning of the first quarter of 2014.
With the oncoming winter weather causing potential deterioration to road surfaces and the potential for further accidents, this implementation needs to be done sooner rather than later.
