A50 Road Closure

Readers of AudlemOnline and residents travelling in the direction of Knutsford should take note of a Road Closure on the Holmeschapel Road. See the Cheshire East bulletin below.

Update: collapse of carriageway on A50 Holmes Chapel road

Cheshire East Council's highways team have been at the A50 today investigating a carriageway collapse in Toft near the junction with Middlewich Road. 
The collapse is significant and major repair work will be required.
Due to the location of the collapse in the centre of the road, it is expected to remain closed overnight. We will update accordingly as and when we are able to.
An emergency diversion is in place along Seven Sisters Lane, Chelford Road (A537) and Adams Hill, operating in both directions.
Our advice to road users would be to plan their journey, and avoid the area if possible.
We are investigating the cause of the incident. At the moment we are unable to confirm the source of the collapse but we are liaising closely with United Utilities.
