A50 road closure latest:

Repairs to the carriageway collapse on the A50 Holmes Chapel Road, Toft in Knutsford have continued throughout yesterday. Cheshire East highways are working closely with United Utilities to repair two collapsed drains, which have been damaged as a result of historical third party works.
Whilst these repairs have progressed, a further unexpected issue has been encountered in the form of another collapsed drain.
More work is now required which means that the road will remain fully closed. The planned partial reopening of the A50 has been delayed until today Friday
The diversion along Seven Sisters Lane, Chelford Road (A537) and Adams Hill remains in place.

We are aware of the traffic issues that these essential works are causing in the Knutsford area. Temporary traffic signals are located on the diversion route at the junction of Seven Sisters Lane and Chelford Road for safety reasons and these will continue to be manually operated during peak travel hours to help minimise the congestion.

Cheshire East highways and United Utilities apologise for the inconvenience caused by this complex issue. Road users are advised to leave additional time for their journey and avoid the area if possible.
