A Dark Day in Williams' History

We apologise to our customers that Sunday 26th February will be a dark day (quite literally) in our history, as we are having our 'antique' fuse boards removed, to make way for something a little more, ahem, "modern".

From approximately 9am to 2pm we will not have any lighting or power but we will still be OPEN (really, did you expect we wouldn't be ?)

Yes, we won't let a small issue of a lack of electricity stop us operating, when 2 World Wars, several world-wide recessions, and a few pandemics, haven't so far, closed our doors !

From the outside (and more importantly the inside) it will be quite a bit darker than usual, and there may be some expletives from time to time from our electrician -- you have been warned !

So if you would like to visit our store this Sunday and enjoy a fully immersive Victorian experience (for which we will not be making any additional charge) then we look forward to welcoming you -- but please do not be offended if we are unable to recognise you in the gloomy shadows.

Bear with us, and hopefully like many others attending Audlem's old buildings on Sundays, we will eventually see the light ! Hallelujah !

After this work, thankfully we will no longer have to practice the largely forgotten skill, of mending a blown fuse, with the appropriate size of fuse wire, in the dark..... which incidentally was my husband's "first-date" experience, when visiting me in this establishment, many years ago ! However, I must have greatly impressed, rather than unwittingly frightened him, as our relationship, I am happy to say, has endured ever since !
