Chris Lewis on The Sun shone....

22nd January 2023 @ 5:03pm

It was a pity Billy did not get him to film the huge pothole jut s few yards up from, his property.Careful observation shows that tractors wether travelling to or from Drayton invaribly drop into it enlarging it on a regular5 basis. I hope to photo it in the next few days(whenthe sun shines) and pit to Rachel Bailey tying to claim the prize for the biggest and best

Mr Nigel Young on Extra Gas LPG

21st January 2023 @ 11:11am

Hello to any other local customers of bulk LPG from Extra Gas. I've just placed an order, if you're thinking you might be due to order soon they (Extra Gas) may be able to co-ordinate deliveries, thus reducing their mileage. Just a thought.

Billy Gibbons on The Sun shone....

21st January 2023 @ 10:36am

The Sun shone in Audlem on Friday. Well, to be more specific, down Green Lane. 'The Sun' being the newspaper and the 'shone' bit was the flashbulbs of the camera. The finished results will or won't be in the paper possibly Monday or thereafter or, if someone famous gets stuck in a toilet or a member of the Royal Family dosen't get stuck in a toilet or a combination of both, it won't be in at all. Mind you, it was fun...if your idea of 'fun' is trying to get the camera man to stand in a position with his camera to try and make it look like I've got one chin rather than the three I actually possess. ;-)))

Chris Briggs on Dinner dance cancellation

20th January 2023 @ 2:35pm

It's a shame the April dinner dance has been cancelled, I believe due to a lack of tickets sales. I must say I was surprised as it has had great support in the past. The ladies in our group are disappointed that they won't be getting their party frocks out!

Chris Jones on Pot Holes and floods in our parish

18th January 2023 @ 11:05am

So we're only looking at 3 potholes? There are a number of sunken drains along the road between Buerton and Audlem.....what happens to those?

Terry Aston on Pot Holes and floods in our parish

18th January 2023 @ 10:34am

Rachael. You might like to look at the condition of Paddock Lane at the Wood Orchard Lane junction. I contacted you back in 2019 about the shoddy repairs carried out on a couple of road defects there caused, I believe, in the first place by BT. Since then CE have been back numerous times carrying out shoddy repairs which often break down in a matter of days. This has led to further deterioration of the road snd spread of the area of damage which at some point is going to necessitate a much more expensive fix than if it had just been done properly in the first place. It's just one example of the waste that goes on – I'm going to submit an FOI request to discover just how much has been wasted on this one example. On 23rd December there were 3 CE vehicles and 6 men there again – the next day it was breaking up again.

Rachel Bailey on Pot Holes and floods in our parish

17th January 2023 @ 2:20pm

CE Highways have kindly offered to meet me and spend time around Audlem Ward, in couple of weeks time.
So whilst 'fix my street' confirms the poor state of our roads, with yet another budgetary cut proposed by the current 'CE Leadership', could you let me know of problems local to you, with photos 'if it's safe to do so'. I will then endeavour to visit the top 3 relatively recent issues with the officer.
Bob, it probably won't include Corbrook but I continue to lobby/hope to finally get a resolution there!
Thank you
Rachel

just take a walk up hardys lane in coxbank to see what continual flooding does to the lane and verge. I have an email from cheshire east to say they have fixed it. They have put plastic barriers around the collapse!

Martin & Sue Harwood on Turnpike footway

A big thanks to all those involved in the construction of the Turnpike footway. As a regular user of this area to walk our greyhound (Ellie), we greatly appreciate all the effort.

Christopher Lewis on Pot Holes and floods in our parish

15th January 2023 @ 9:42pm

I acept Ken Lees comments but would add as a rate payer I would expect the income to be use to maintain and conserve the infra structure of the area for which Cheshire East is responsible. Clearly there are bugetary constraints, but if an individual can manage to sort out the flooding under the bridge ,it should not be too complicated for CE to similarly act. The idea
of a pipe to the brook appears tobe emminedtly sensible

Celia Bloor on Thank you Aol

15th January 2023 @ 6:21pm

Listening to someone on radio saying how difficult it was to make friends when you move I realise how much good this website does in passing on info about activities and events. Also thanks to those who organise the groups and meetings. I used to say I could go out every evening (not to the pub) but nowadays I could go to a different activity morning noon and night! Coffee and chat afterwards too!

In these in some ways grim times I found the report on the flourishing wildlife and plants on Turnpike Fields enlightening and a breath of fresh air.
Thank you, Adrian.

Jeff Price on Airband?

15th January 2023 @ 1:17pm

I had occasion to speak to some workmen in a scruffy van parked outside my house this morning around 10.15 am. The van had been there for some time and its engine was running the whole time. (It was not especially cold). Neither the van nor the men inside had any visible signs of identification. I asked them to turn the engine off but they refused. I pointed out that it was illegal but they would not accept this. I then asked them if they were working for Airband as similar vans had been in our road before. They said that they weren't. They did not tell me what they were doing and soon drove off. As later on, there were people clearly working in the road, I can only assume that this was indeed Airband in action. Not quite the public presentation of Sky or BT is it? Their Facebook page is littered with customer complaints and ,frankly, I would'nt touch them with a barge pole. Another political dodgy contract?

Sonia Kay on Repair cafe

15th January 2023 @ 8:54am

I've just read the article about setting up a repair cafe. I'm afraid I don't have any skills to offer but I would love to be able to come along and learn from other people. I think it's a terrific idea. Hope it gets off the ground.

Ken Lee on Pot Holes and floods in our parish

15th January 2023 @ 8:52am

I suppose we are all guilty on of always assuming someone else will do it. However if everyone did it individually that would only add additional cost to us in the long run and even longer delay. Perhaps a single petition prepared by our own Mistress of Words Stephanie and signed by all people within the Parish and as many from 'beyond' as possible would have a much better chance of success. This would enable Colin to concentrate on 'Go To' as we have a reasonably adequate bus service already, which is likely to be taken off due to it. At least the regular service has a timetable and sticks to it. Be like me get a shopping trolley, whisky flask in zipped pocket at front, no worries of being stopped by police, bus pass in hand. What more could you ask for – become a twirly
ps I do also support the shops in the village before anyone starts up

bob fousert on Council budget consultation

14th January 2023 @ 12:08pm

HEALTH WARNING! This consultation is 314 pages long and whilst ideal for insomniacs, should not be read whilst operating machinery or undertaking dagerous peruits.
Interesting to note that CE claim that they are ahead of target to becme carbon neutral by 2025, but fail to take into account that any savings will be more than offset by traffic disruption and delays caused by the lamentable state of our roads. A situation set to become much worse as the proposal is to reduce the highways budget for 2023/24 by £0.8m. Might as well not hold our breath or get too excited about the possibilty of flood repairs to Green Lane and by Corbrook this side of 2033!

Chris Spring on Pot Holes and floods in our parish

14th January 2023 @ 8:19am

The work in Chapel Lane is by United Utilities & not Cheshire East..
Be interested to know if Cheshire East have considered using no dig technology, that is a mole, to simply run a new drainage pipe from Swanbach Ford to the Brook as you cross the county boundary. Could be a considerably cheaper way of solving the continual flooding?. I did is FOI request last year & only 22 people had reported the flooding as an issue over the last few years. Need more people to report & Parish Council to get involved?.

Anne Crutchley on Chapel Lane

14th January 2023 @ 6:41am

The closure of Chapel Lane is due to water pipe replacement work which has been taking place throughout the area.

Andrew Wood on Council budget consultation

13th January 2023 @ 11:54pm

Council tax payers may want to give feedback on CECs budget consultation for the forthcoming year.

Among the proposals are 4.9% rise in council tax, a charge for brown/green bin collections, reductions in green space maintenance and a reduction in highways spending.
