Peter Webb on Turnpike field planning permission

17th June 2023 @ 5:53pm

I think the gate on green lane is needed for safety reasons, it doesn't take much common sense to realise that safety comes first. It could have gone the other way and ended up in the road? Now that's the time to call gate and bush inspector.
As I look at the layout of the field I realize a gate will be needed at the top end of the field by the turnstile. The gate will again have to be set back in the field, this will allow wheelchair access. Would it be a silly idea to ask the gate and bush inspector, the parish council, the planning inspector to visit the site and check if the gate would be allowed.

Billy, as someone who has traveled with you in your various vehicles on many many occasions can I just ask, are you sure the person in question wasn't just standing at the side of the road? Because from my observations of your driving, you would never have managed to catch up with someone who is actually walking.

Claudia Jackson on Walker

Are we now victim blaming Billy? I'd take walking down the less preferred side of the road rather than admitting to careless driving

I wholeheartedly agree with Maurice Shenton's sentiments and his comments expressing appreciation for the efforts of the parish councillors. I would also like to thank Geoff Seddon for his, as ever, calm and clear summing up of the situation re Turnpike Field.

Let's hope that the Planning Enforcement Officer and Cheshire East will see fit to grant retrospecive permission without delay. It must be very disconcerting for the Parish Councillors when problems like this crop up unexpectedly. I'm sure the vast majority of the people of Audlem appreciate their efforts.

Turnpike Field was purchased to prevent the ruination of the village with another housing development being built, this has been achieved and will be secured with the FIT agreement. Would it not be the most sensible thing just be to cut our losses, remove all the offending items and leave the field as a field. The planning permission and everything involved will cost money the PC doesn't have.

Ian turner on Turnpike field planning permission

Shocked that the council who let's not forget look over all our planning applications didn't know that planning was needed for change of use. A massive costly oversight on the parish councils part that looks like is going to effect a lot of village events

Maureen McKay on Turnpike field planning permission

17th June 2023 @ 2:22am

I know what the council have done on the field has massively improved it for all and it really is frustrating that someone feels the need to complain with the only intention of causing trouble but we can not just ignore the fact that they have massively misjudged the planning laws where the field is concerned and they need to accept this, find out why it's happened and make sure we never have a repeat of it. I know people might think I'm being a silly grumpy old sod but we need to make sure we learn from these things and we never have repeats. Anyway my little rant over and I really do mean it when I say thank you to the parish council for the work they do

Would any lawyers on here please advise whether Cheshire East Highways could be open to legal action because their failure to maintain the highway at Swanbach Ford (drainage and potholes) is a breach of their statutory duty to maintain the public highway in a safe state.

So hornets are a 'cause of global warming'.
Who knew? :-)

Has anyone used a painter/ spraying company to paint kitchen units? Recommendations sought please. Thank you.

Well firstly, I would like to thank the ALL the Parish Counsillors for their hard work on improving the the village facilities , they do this voluntarily, you cannot be fully professional in ALL areas but try your best.
May I say to the person or persons who have complained about the planning for the improvements made ie The entrance, picnic tables dipping pond and improvement to the dog walkers of our village.
YOU must be narrowed minded and really dislike Audlem. I have met many keyboard bullies that only hide behind an anonymous status as the coward you are !!!

Why the good people of the Parish Council do this work for free? beggars belief. Why you would put your free time in to improving the village when you get these Trumpers (think)who knock you at every twist and turn.
Anyone who thinks that they can do any better, feel free to join Audlem Parish Council asap

THANK YOU Councillors for your your patience and hard work.

Andy James Davidson on Hornets

16th June 2023 @ 3:24pm

European Hornets have been in the UK for many years, I certainly remember seeing them when I was a youngster albeit I lived in the south-east then. I believe they are a member of the wasp family. They have a rather unfair and unwarranted reputation as they will only sting people if they feel threatened. I did come across a queen hornet hibernating in my compost heap in spring 2022.

The hornet we should be worried about is the Asian Hornet which predates on our bees, it is common in France (thought to have been brought in with imports from Asia) and there have been sightings in the UK but I believe the hornets spotted so far have been eradicated. I think it is a legal requirement to report sightings of Asian Hornets.

Apologies to the person walking along Whitchurch road who I almost clipped with my car. I was distracted when my phone fell out of it's holder and when I looked up, there you were. Sorry if I gave you a fright. My fault. But; you should really have been facing the traffic. No excuses though...my fault.

Helen Measures on Hornets

I think there's a bit of confusion on the subject of Hornets. The European Hornet is native to the UK it is the Asian Hornet that is invasive and aggressive. It's more than likely that the Hornet seen in Audlem is of the former variety. We had a Hornet's nest in the garden of our French house, we were advised by our neighbours to leave it be, which we did and just as we had been told, we had a brilliant mosquito free summer with the Hornets eating the little blighters and other insect pests too. We were disappointed when they didn't return the next year.

Me and my husband will be strongly apposing any planning application on turnpike the sooner money is stopped being wasted on a field full of dog mess the better

Mark rowland on Turnpike field planning permission

Massive oversight by the council with this which is going to incur more cost. I've spoken to a few people yesterday and this morning who have made it clear they are going to oppose the planning application. What will become of the field if the application is not granted?

Chris Hewitt on Turnpike field planning permission

16th June 2023 @ 7:26am

Surly the people who sit and pass judgement on all our planning permission applications should themselves follow the rules.

Paul breach on Turnpike field planning permission

Sadly Kay with that attitude then should all well meaning building projects consider themselves above local planning laws? Especially if they had a working group at the helm. Wonder if I could get an extension built if I hold a monthly meetings?

geriant Morgan on hornets

15th June 2023 @ 9:09pm

after reading the posts on the hornet problem , we had a nest of wasps taken away by the local council .about three years ago . and what i was told they are a direct cause of global warming . they are being found more down south , but are slowly migrating north as the summers hot up now, they came from europe originally.and yes they can be aggressive , so be carefull with them .

Kay Hodson on Turnpike field planning permission

15th June 2023 @ 5:07pm

Thanks very much to the busybody who reported the Turnpike Field entrance as needing planning permission, which has ruined the activities planned for the organised youth groups for the summer.
An asset to the village which has been made been safer, now can't be used for the exact people that it is meant to benefit.
One person ruining lots of other people's volunteering efforts.

Colin Cliffe on Turnpike field

15th June 2023 @ 4:25pm

Well what a to do, I was just wondering what would happen now should the retrospective planning permission for change of use for the field not be granted, would the picnic benches, boardwalks, and pond fences all have to go, would the ponds have to be filled in and the frogs evicted, would the original gateway have to be restored? Let's just hope that the Parish Council now get the official approval they need because they sure don't have any more funds to throw at it, do they?

John long on Turnpike planning

15th June 2023 @ 10:33am

Well the council has managed to fail the village yet again. It's clear planning was needed for this gateway yet the parish council thinking its above us all in the village felt they were above planning. How can these people be trusted to give any opinion on planning applications?

Paul Cawood on Audlem against coal and fracking

14th June 2023 @ 8:32pm

In July 2022 I had the pleasure of seeing a lecture by professor Mike Garret. Prof Garrett is the director of science at the Lovell observatory at Jodrell Bank. It's the world renowned centre of astrophysics and climate study. Mike Garrett runs it. So he knows his stuff. Prof Garrett explained in his lecture how his team, collaborating with other groups around the world, have measured the levels of carbon dioxide from over 800,000 years ago in our atmosphere until present day. The big jump is since 1958 with a staggering increase that correlates directly with fossil fuel use. He also proved that this increase has changed and is changing our climate. This was a humbling experience as we are living through the impact of our actions. So anyone who thinks the climate isn't changing due to fossil fuel use should maybe come to terms with their cognitive dissonance. The science is irrefutable. I would ask how burning more coal is going to help reverse the flooding, drought, famine and desertification that's happening.

Mike Mason on Long awaited meeting

Climate denial and punctuation denial it would appear. A heady mix. I look forward to giving this meeting a very wide berth.
