Could anyone tell me what happened re the recent investigation into possible misappropriation of funds within the local Parish Council, have I missed its outcome, or is it still ongoing? It appears to me to have all gone very quiet unless of course, I missed its conclusion.
Go on then, I'll put it another way; Does anyone have any old photographs (pre 1980's) of Audlem at Christmas with a Christmas tree in the Square please? Really don't know any other ways to ask this question. Hold on...how about this; Does anyone know when Audlem first started displaying a Christmas tree in the Square? There...that ought to do it ....not going to hold my breath though..I did that when I was 7 and went all blue and fell over....
Just noticed the post regarding our iconic church. Another good reason to support The Parks wedding venue project. I'm sure weddings in Audlem would create revenue for the church, unless of course anyone who objects would be happy to fund it?
Ed:
AudlemOnline moderation team believe that the thread on the hunting ban at Cheshire West and Chester should be closed and no further submissions on this topic will be accepted.
The subject is clearly emotive but arguably more appropriate for public debate on social media rather than a local chatbox of the "Letters to the editor" nature
What starts as a mild conversation/ observation in the submissions has increasingly become disrespectful and personal infringing the AOL Chatbox " terms of use"
I know we don't have gas in the village but can anyone suggest a gas heating engineer who covers the Nantwich area? Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks
Open this weekend and everyday till 20th December.
Bring ur wellies and cut your own Nordmann Fir tree.

We need to refit our en-suite and wondered if there is a plumber/bathroom fitter that you can recommend. Our existing shower needs replacing now but the whole room will be redone next year...when the weather warms up!
Thank you to all involved with the annual Santa Sleigh Visit.
My kids love seeing Santa on his sleigh every year and it's so exciting listening out for him.
Well done for raising such a large amount of money.
And in answer to your other question Lynette yes it is my personal opinion and not the parish councils. I can't abide people who use there position in an organisation to feather their nests
Lynette I'm fully aware of the terminology however I was unsure if everyone else would be hence my use of the terms I did
James McGregor , I am presuming that this is your personal opinion not that of Audlem council ?
So if you are going to make comments re hunting please get the terminology correct .
The scarlet red jackets they wear are known as 'hunting pinks' not because of the colour but because of a tailor named Pinks who made the best such wear for the hunting fraternity. The name 'pinks' then became a generic name applied to these colourful jackets worn by those who hunt.
Of course, it's not just Cheshire West which has recently introduced this ban but also many landowners and the membership of the National Trust which recently voted in favour of a ban. And, not filled with hatred, I would recognise that there are benefits which arise from hunting just as there are negatives. But the fact remains that the hunting fraternity were simply not following the rules. Here is Mark Hankinson, Master of the Foxhunters Association on trail hunting: "We need to have clear, visible, plausible trail laying being done throughout the day ... It's a lot easier to create a smokescreen if you've got more than one trail layer operating, and that is what it's all about, trying to portray to the people watching that you're going about your legitimate business."
In other words, you PRETEND you're trail hunting when really you're going to carry on hunting in the old, now illegal way. Of course, these people are very like the beloved politicians they vote for. Rules are there for the many; to be avoided by the few. After all what could be simpler than 'No animal should be killed'? How about 'No one is allowed a Christmas Party? 'This why there is a negative reaction to trail hunting because it is a deceitful cover for the old barbarism.
I fear the flooding under the old railway bridge will join Adderley lights in the ATD category: All Too Difficult.
I've ploughed (or surfed?) through the link included in the road strategy document (ho ,ho, ho) but can find no reference to the Swanbach problem being dealt with in 2021-2022.
On several roads in UK there are flashing signs saying "road closed due to weather conditions". Maybe that will be the preferred council solution, with signs at the start of Green Lane and the Gingerbread Roundabout. They could pay Norman a retainer to operate them!
Just want to say Thank you to the 1st Audlem Guides for the lovely gift. Made my day.x
Unfortunately it is with great sadness I have read the news the Cheshire west and Chester council has banned trail hunting on its land. Extremely sad that a council feels the need to ban a perfectly legal pursuit on its land, to me it just goes to show the issue with the campaign of hate against the country/hunting community seems clear to me that it's nothing actually to do with the peoples misguided view on animal welfare issues but more the ideas people have of class and the dislike they have for people wearing red hunt coats on a horse. If only people would take more time to understand the benefits of hunting and understand that when trail hunting no fox is killed they might start to understand the countryside and it's community and traditions a bit more
Just to let you know Bailey the missing cat has returned to his narrowboat hungry & covered in mud but seemingly otherwise unscathed!
Time to bombard the MP with post
Cllr Browns article was a less than illuminating read. A good case of look at what people do not what they say . If safety of road users was such a high priority why the reduction in the gritting programme, that resulted in two accidents on Coole lane last week.
Does anyone know when Audlem first started displaying a Christmas tree in the Square?
Well said by Norman Huntbach on Swanbach Flooding. Sharing and shaming on social media seems to be the only way to get things done.
There is no excuse for the drains on this section of road not to be properly maintained.
Again well done Norman.
MISSING CAT;
If anyone sees Bailey around the Audlem Lock Flight can you please call 07450230303, he doesn't venture far or ever overnight from his boat & is 18yrs old, we think he may have gone off to die as they do but we can't be sure. Medium size, tabby with white chest & white paws, totally symmetrical markings.
Just been to get my Christmas tree for Ollie. Plenty of choice and you can cut your own or he will cut it for you – good price too.
Merry Christmas.
Have I got this right re today's headline article? Does the CE council have a 6 billion (BILLION) pounds road and infrastructure budget and with it they plan to resurface a grand total of 16 miles of our disgraceful roads in the next financial year?????????
They are encouraging us to report potholes, so I have once again reported the annual Paddock lane potholes only to be informed that the works have already been scheduled to take place between the 16th of August and the 21st of December 2021, I kid you not. This really isn't 'the council puts the safety of road users as its highest priority' policy that they claim to have, is it? So have they left it till the weather gets really crappy before they attempt to bodge these holes yet again, or will they just not turn up, I know which one my money is on.
It seems that Cllr Browne is well versed in talking utter tosh. The thirteen issues that I had reported two years ago were marked as having been resolved, whereas not one of them had been addressed. It is not clear however, whether this is a new reporting scheme so that all the existing complaints and observations can be binned in one fell swoop or if there is another motive. I smell BS
