I'd be very happy to help with any community initiative to support Ukrainian refugees.
What an excellent idea Mike and Celia. Don't know how we move on it or whether the Nursing home company still own the site.
I have always thought it a shame that those bungalows lie empty when they were recently built.
Thank you Anna Murray, My thoughts exactly. When Audlem community comes together they can move mountains. Count me in.
Thanks, Chris. I've also reported it via Shropshire Council's online system & intend to ring their helpdesk tomorrow.
I'm in the same boat as Paddy . Struggle to manage without Michelle and Sevvie. The Dry Cleaners is a massive help to me .
Hi All,
Audlem is a hub of community spirit and would be well placed to provide support to people. Are we going to discuss this as a community to see whether we can sponsor refugees?
Thanks
Every time I walk down Vicarage Lane I think its a shame the Old Grammar School OAP bungalows lie empty and going into disrepair. Wouldn't it be a great gesture by the owners (whoever they are) and Audlem that they were offered as temporary accommodation to Ukrainian refugees and repeat that WW1 act of kindness that Celia mentions?
I reported that pothole and another in the same area to https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/ about a week ago....If more people report it, it may prompt action
For anyone not already aware, there is a dangerous wide and deep pothole on the southbound carriageway of the A529 opposite a gateway just north of Adderley School.
This pothole could damage car tyres and/or suspension and, more importantly, could throw a motorcylist or cyclist off his/her bike, especially if not seen in the dark.
I have today contacted Adderley Parish Council about this, asking whether Shropshire Highways have been informed and if so whether there is a timescale for the repair.
I have also asked the PC whether they could put a traffic cone in or beside the pothole, or if not ask Shropshire Highways to do so pending a repair.
Came through Audlem just after 7am this morning and came across the fantastic volunteers loading a lorry of aid for Ukrainian refugees. They had been there since 6am – feel very humbled. Well done everyone involved.
The present situation reminded me that at the beginning of WW1 when Belgium was invaded a collection was made and enough money raised to rent a house in Audlem for a family of refugees!
As a (retired) personnel management professional, I would say that the wage/salary should always be included in job adverts, otherwise the advertiser is likely not to attract a fair number of potential candidates. Omitting the salary suggests to me that you intend to pay less than a reasonable market rate.
Is the modern trend that rates of pay are not published these days ? Recent job opportunities avoid quoting wages on A O L . Seems strange to me , might be M T R
I'm hoping that Audlem residents will support and sign up for the following appeal.

Thank you for looking.

Where can we leave clothing and items for Ukraine?
The AoL Editing team publishes Openness 24/02/2022
https://www.audlem.org/news/openness.html
'The point of this article is simply to ask what are the priorities of the current PC? And to which councillors have they been allocated'?
'Further, there are also some detailed questions that AoL believes should be answered'
I found your Openness article 24/02/2022 to be extremely informative and I am looking forward to learning more.
Does the AoL Editing team intend to publish the responses to your questions any day soon?
I would like to thank all the kind people who offered boxes for the Ukrainian Refugee Appeal . We now have an adequate supply.
Is the WI still in need of boxes for the Ukrainian donations? I have just moved so have at least 25 packing boxes (now flat packed) that you are very welcome to.
On Monday 7th March at about 08.30am I was running off the canal at Adderley towards the road at Adderley when I was attacked by a BROWN COCKER SPANIEL WHICH WAS FEMALE she was off the lead and came running at the back of me and she bit both of my legs the owner just said she is nervous ,
I attend the doctors as my legs went very swollen and had to have a tetanus injection and also very sore still.
BE AWARE
THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A CHILD RUNNING AND MORE SERIOUS ISSUES
Great second instalment Bob. I could taste the salt in the air and the damp in my oilies!
Big one next.....
Is there anywhere in Audlem accepting donations for Ukraine next week?
I'm guessing that the fifth one is 'The Invisible Man'. lol
Full marks to the AoL team for their recent series of perceptive articles on the success that willing and in some cases, possibly cajoled volunteers, have had with various projects in the village over the years. Well done editors, we can now look forward to a new generation stepping up to the plate, maybe.
Also thank to Ralph for his energy and boundless enthusiasm over many years, not to mention his excellent and compelling football commentaries, complete with niche observations on matters terrestrial and philosophical. And then we have scintillating articles by the renowned Stephanie that are a revelation to the less worldly among us and are a cause for joy and laughter in these sad times.
What a rich tapestry this community has produced, something to celebrate.
Hello Lou, yes, we have had two or three cold calls on loft insulation. The ones we have had emanate from a company down on the south coast, Bournemouth I seem to recall, and were for spray foam insulation which has a poor reputation and can result in devaluing the property. I formally requested that the company remove our name from their database, but without success.
