Brian Critchley on Village Butcher

26th April 2022 @ 2:44pm

A big "Hats off" to Alan at Oxtail and Trotter – He kept his business going and kept us going too with his home deliveries during the lock-downs..............We can't thank him enough for that. I had to add those comments but we couldn't leave it at that without saying that just yesterday we had the most delicious chicken stir- fry ( apologies to any vegetarians-but there are things there for you too with his fresh vegs ,breads and confectionery) He has a choice selection of quality meats and is a brilliant example of a hands-on butcher and an invaluable asset to us all. So may we say a big thank you to you Alan and your staff and long may you continue as our Village Butcher.
Brian and Elizabeth .

colin cliffe on Street cleaner vacancy

26th April 2022 @ 8:59am

Firstly, my very best wishes to Gavin on his well-earned retirement. Secondly, regarding the vacancy that has now been triggered for a street cleaner I was wondering if any formal training would be given, or would you just be expected to pick it up as you went along?

Peter Oxley on Suspicious activity Matthews Way

22nd April 2022 @ 8:05am

At around 02.42 on 22nd April, a tall (approx 6ft, darkly-dressed) man appeared & walked up Matthews Way, (near Moorsfield avenue) going from house to house, seemingly trying everyone's car doors and using a torch. (This incident was reported to Cheshire Police). Might be a good idea for everyone to check they lock their cars with no valuables on display and maybe secure their garden gates and houses too.

Peter Morgan on Mower service

21st April 2022 @ 9:27pm

My 35 plus years old Honda 173 needed a service, the fourth professional service in its short life and so I used S and P Mowers as advertised on Aol. It was speedily collected by Paul, serviced, and delivered back just in time to get my first cut of silage; my fault, I was slow in placing the order. It now starts on first pull not seven. How good is that? And all for a very reasonable price. I recommend.

Susan Critton on Local Services

Having just had a THR a couple of weeks ago, I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the volunteer from the ADCA who delivered my prescription today. We have a brilliant medical centre, a great pharmacy and a wonderful team working for us at the ADCA. Feeling truly blessed.

Thank you so much

Celia Bloor on Pop up Covid vaccination clinics

19th April 2022 @ 4:58pm

Not Nantwich but we saw the queue for one in Whitchurch last Thursday, I heard someone told 'you are number 31' but no idea how long that would take, I think a few chairs were being provided but they were out in the street! We had appts for ours at Rowlands Chemist a few yards farther on and were dealt with swiftly.

Christina Lawson on Pop up Covid vaccination clinics

18th April 2022 @ 10:16pm

Has anyone used the pop up vaccination clinic at The Nantwich Parish Hall in Church Walk?
It seems to be a turn-up , walk in centre, rather than by an appointment, for a two hour period only, so possibly difficult queuing for people with bad mobility?
Information would be very welcome.

Geraint Davies on Key !that was lost is now found

18th April 2022 @ 8:49pm

AUDLEM! What a place to live!

I lost my house key up the canal late on Sunday afternoon. At 5PM I posted a 'lost' notice on AudlemOnline's Lost/Found page.
At 7.50AM on Monday morning I went to pick up my paper at Williams' and Judy handed me my key! Amazing.
Very many thanks to the person who found it and handed it in.

I can only repeat, "What a place to live!"

Geraint Davies.

Just a quick shout out for Audlem resident Alex who has just started putting on walking football sessions for those of ..... eerrmmm .... a certain age. Peter Oxley on Sad news from the Chippy

17th April 2022 @ 7:47am

We were very sad to hear about losing George at the Chippy, just can't believe it, I was only chatting away & joking with him last week. Our hearts go out to Ali and all his family and friends. George was a lovely chap and will be a terrible loss for the village.
Our most sincere condolences.

Colin Cliffe on Under..sorry..Overtaking

15th April 2022 @ 3:27pm

One more thought on this subject, if the hearse had been seen to be passing the wagon on the inside was the undertaking undertaker undertaking?

Billy Gibbons on Under..sorry..Overtaking

15th April 2022 @ 11:34am

Of course, there could be another reason (as a mate has pointed out) The truck driver could have indicated or waved the Hearse to overtake so that he wouldn't be delayed perhaps. I'm going to go with that. It seems the more likely explanation perhaps. It still doesn't make it less strange to see a Hearse overtake something though....usually it's the other way round if anything. ;-)
