Audlem resident Steve Overland and ex-resident (but frequent visitor) Jim Kirkpatrick, are both members of legendary British AOR* band 'FM'.
The band has reformed and is releasing their first new music since the mid 90's. A single called Wildside is to be released on iTunes on October 6th (subject to change) with an E.P. following on Oct 24th, a date which coincides with the boys' sold out headlining appearance at Nottingham Rock City to 1400 fans!
It's been over 15 long years since the mighty FM released any brand new songs. Thankfully this is about to change with lead track Wildside now being available for download. Taken from the blistering forthcoming album Metropolis, Wildside is quite simply a stunning piece of "in your face" classic rock.
Finest UK rock singerSteve Overland once again proves he is undoubtedly just about the finest rock singer the UK has ever produced. He's joined by the original rhythm section of Merv Goldsworthy (bass) and Pete Jupp (drums), Jem Davis on keyboards and newly recruited, guitar hero in waiting, Jim Kirkpatrick.
Wildside was produced by the band and recorded at various studios including world renowned Metropolis London, famous clients including Queen and more recently The Black Eyed Peas. Wildside was mastered at Abbey Road, a studio synonymous with The Beatles.
Formed in 1984 the band signed to CBS (Sony) records and toured with such luminaries as Bon Jovi, Tina Turner and Whitesnake plus many more. They did their own headline theatre tour of the UK in 1989 including a sold out London Hammersmith Apollo. The band released 5 studio albums; a live acoustic album; and a "best of". In 1996, with the changing musical tide, the band split but remained close friends.
Re-formedIn October 2007 they were persuaded to re-form for a one off show at Nottingham Rock City (Firefest IV) and played to a sold-out 1400 strong ecstatic crowd. One journalist likened it to Beatlemania, from all over Europe and as far as Japan and the Bahamas. The show was filmed and "Back in the Saddle" was released in 2008 to rave reviews.
To coincide with the release of Wildside the band are returning to Rock City on October 24th to once again headline another hot and sweaty sold out Firefest VI. Overwhelmed by the response of their loyal fans the band returned to the studio to record a new album "Metropolis", due out early 2010 with Wildside released to wet the appetite of all classic rock fans around the globe.
It's good to see Audlem rocking the world yet again.
