A report has reached Audlem Online that a con man claiming to be from "the Water Board" tried to gain entry to the home of an elderly resident in Audlem last night.
The man arrived at the door saying there had been an explosion and it was necessary to test the water in the house. Immediately suspicious, the resident tried to close her front door but the man put his foot in the door to prevent it being shut. The woman then activated an alarm on her wrist to drive the spineless trickster away.
If there are any reports of this man, they should be sent to PC Ken Maple.
