If it's good enough for Beijing, it's good enough for Audlem!
We are now days away from one of the biggest events in Audlem- the village's enviable 'Bonfire & Fireworks Display'.
But what makes this show so special and draws audiences in from near and far?
Music choice and choreography began back in March and the picking, fusing and preparation of the show takes Blitz Fireworks about 6 weeks.
The show will be set to music featuring a variety of songs of different genres and times perfectly synced to the drama of the fireworks, their burst and impact.
This year sees a new sound provider and for the first time the industry renowned Funktion One sound system will be used at Audlem. This calibre of sound provision is usually found at major concerts or festivals such as Glastonbury.
#Beijing to Audlem
The show is fired electronically via a laptop with state of the art world renowned 'fire-by-wire' firing system and it is the only digital firing system made and manufactured here in the UK.
It was used at the Beijing Olympics, and has been used to fire all the shows at Audlem.
The lucky winner (to be announced) from Audlem St James' school's Bonfire Art Competition will press the button to start the display featuring hundreds of single shot comets, straight firing cakes, fan cakes and z cakes, mines, candles and aerial shells.
Tickets are on sale now for £4 from Audlem Post Office, Nantwich TIC or Blitz in Crewe. Gate price £5. Under 5s are Free. No sparklers or dogs please.
Gates open 4pm, Bonfire lighting 6.30pm, Fireworks 7pm- all timings are approximate. Don't miss this spectacular show!

Chatting to Jo and Allan at the Lord Combermere the other day, they confirmed that they intend to leave the pub at the end of their current lease in 2022, albeit with great trepidation and heavy hearts! They will have put 13 years of their lives into making the Lord Combermere a focal point of village activity and it would be difficult to think of another couple who have contributed so much to...
I found this male sparrowhawk devouring a pigeon in our Audlem garden. He was so unconcerned by my presence that I was able to go back into the house to get my camera and then take many photographs from only about three metres away. I eventually left him to finish his meal. All that was visible later were the pigeon's legs and claws. A male sparrowhawk, I'm presuming to be the same one...
