Carolyn Wilde, Secretary of Burleydam and District WI, has received an appeal for a photo of A, B or C Company 14th Battalion Cheshire Home Guard — Burleydam — taken in March 1943. (These details were supplied by the searcher).
The grandson of William George Houlding has a copy of the photo of D Company and his grandfather is not in that one. He hopes he may have been in the photo of one of the other three companies.

Here's a snippet that might get Audlem historians interested.Reading a book entitled "Tales From The Old Inland Waterways", there is reference to the fact that there was a carpenter's workshop owned by the canal company on the wharf at Audlem. The carpenter was Bob Williams, and his main job was to do woodwork repairs to the locks in Audlem and Adderley flights. The date...
