Audlem Saints were involved in a close match with easily their best opponents to date, Boro Boys. Excellent defending from both sides restricted goalscoring chances greatly. Only a long range effort from Audlem troubled the goalkeepers in the first period which ended goalless. The second period saw a bit more space being created and Audlem forced a series of corners. From one of these, a Boro Boy defender used a hand to force the ball away and a penalty was awarded. The Audlem penalty taker dealt with the pressure well, smashing his kick into the bottom right hand corner. The second period ended 1-0 to Audlem.
The final period was very tense indeed with real end to end football. The Audlem defence stood firm. Good disciplined, play allowed Audlem to preserve the lead and secure a very hard earned victory.
The unbeaten season record now reads played 8, won 7 and drawn 1.
Next up is Betley Topps Yellow at 12.10 next Sunday, 12th Novomber.
