A reminder that the A525 will be closed over lengthy periods for a couple of days from tomorrow. We understand the actual closure is just this side of Woore.

There is a lot of information for drivers to take in as they speed past the signs — particularly if their mother tongue is not English!

With a significant proportion of the long-distance lorries using the A525 being from Eastern Europe, will an almighty jam start to develop backing up from Woore towards Audlem as drivers ignore the advance warning — a little like Operation Stack on the M20 when the Channel Tunnel is closed.

Buerton Parish council has been approached by PCSO Jarvis regarding a community speed watch scheme.This would involve members of the community volunteering to assist in running the scheme by using a hand held laser speed device in relevant areas and times where it has been noted that vehicles are travelling in excess of the speed limit.
