Ian Haughey reports on last night's music: "Personally, I'd like to thank all those who attended the Duffey Boys Music Night at the Combermere last night. An eventful evening — even with a temporary sound glitch — saw the many guests delivering excellent performances.

"Following the Duffey's opening numbers, which included 'Festival', Reuben Palin took to the set with Callum and then Jane Marshall playing fiddle in front of a packed audience. Next up playing as a solo artist for the first time, former Ipcress front man Wayne Capper produced a great acoustic set that was well received. "The talents of Audlem's own Vaughan's family continued from Karen's earlier appearance at St James' Church, with Mike Vaughan delivering a virtuoso guitar performance. His set was brought to an end with Mathew Vaughan joining him playing trumpet — Fantastic! Mike will next be playing at the Coffee Lounge Sunday Morning (Live Jazz and coffee, sounds like bliss!).

"'Same Old Noise' took to the stage, with Jack and Kirsty joined by Defense bassist Mark Jones adding a deeper dimension to their sound. They nailed their performance, even though it was interrupted by the amp needing a rest! 'Apathy and the Dead Clown Circus' or 'Ade & Tom!' then turned in four superb acoustic cover versions — Pearl Jam aficionados in the audience were all over the place! So glad they were invited along. The evening was rounded off by another great acoustic set from Nick Lundie, who delivers his set with a growing confidence that the audience warmed to, then it was back to the Duffey Boys.

"A really great evening on the first night of the Festival, appreciated by a packed Lord Combermere audience. It was evident from the comments that the White Lion, Shroppie Fly and newly opened Bridge also enjoyed the opening weekend's performances where we had Pete Price, John Gunstone with Al Dean and Gambler all entertaining good audiences."
