Today's Nantwich Chronicle runs the following story:
Part-time firefighters are needed to provide emergency cover for the Audlem area. Residents in and around Audlem are being urged to attend an open night at Audlem Fire Station on Tuesday, July 22, from 6-8pm to find out about the part-time scheme.
Local employers interested in allowing staff to take part are also being encouraged to attend.
"Our retained duty staff attend exactly the same sort of emergency incidents as our full-time crews and are trained to use our range of specialist rescue equipment," said station manager Derek Dickson.
"The system is extremely flexible, however, and means people can be on standby either at home or in their full-time job and then respond when there is an emergency."
