No complaints cost GP

The strange world of GP's pay means it pays to complain. A GP surgery in Preston has been docked £375 because it had not received a single complaint from patients.

Under the payment system for family doctors, surgeries receive money for hitting targets. One of the payments is dependent on the surgery being able to demonstrate how it deals with complaints. And no complaints means it cannot be paid for showing how it handled a complaint.

Asked about this strange anomaly, the NHS Central Lancashire said the trust had to follow guidelines!
