The Public Hall film season continues on Saturday May 10th with two more films showing on the big screen.

The afternoon film is Horton Hears a Who (Cert U). This is based on the book by Dr Seuss and features the voices of Jim Carrey as Horton and Carol Burnett as Kangaroo in a tale about eternally happy Horton who is astonished when his everyday jungle life is bizarrely interrupted one day when he amazingly hears a voice coming from a speck of dust floating by his ears. Horton discovers that upon the speck lies the miniature land of Whoville, a town of Whos who live in homes, go to work, go to school and generally enjoy their carefree lives unaware that a whole other world exists on the other side of the clouds in their sky. This gives him nothing but torment from his neighbours, who refuse to believe that anything could survive on the speck. Still, Horton stands by the motto that, "After all, a person is a person, no matter how small."

In the evening the film is The Other Boleyn Girl (Cert 12A). Based on the best selling novel by Philippa Gregory, this is an engrossing and sensual tale of intrigue, romance, and betrayal set against the backdrop of a defining moment in European history. Starring Natalie Portman and Scarlet Johansson as the two Boleyn sisters, Anne and Mary who are driven by their ambitious father and uncle to advance the family's power and status by courting the affections of the King of England (Eric Bana). Leaving behind the simplicity of country life, the girls are thrust into the dangerous and thrilling world of court life — and what began as a bid to help their family develops into a ruthless rivalry between Anne and Mary for the love of the king.

Horton Hears a Who starts at 5 pm and tickets are priced at £2.50 for children and £5 for adults. The Other Boleyn Girl starts at 7.30 pm and all tickets cost £5. Tickets for both films can be purchased at the Post Office.
