The Citizens' Advice Bureau's (CAB) bus that visits Audlem and other villages in the Nantwich area, has been saved by a £200,000 grant from the National Lottery. The Nantwich CAB had been under financial pressure and there were fears that the branch and its bus service would not continue.

The Rural Advice Service bus has been in operation since 1987 and in the mid-90s another lottery grant helped pay for a new, specially adapted vehicle with wheelchair access, a small waiting room and interview room. The service has been hailed as innovative and unique amongst CABs but the Nantwich based operation was suffering from a £30,000 budget shortfall.

The lottery grant will now pay for the salaries of two staff members, the van's upkeep and administration costs. The van operates four days a week and visits villages such as Sound, Wrenbury, Bunbury and Wybunbury as well as Buerton and Audlem.
