The day for the opening of the Lord Combermere grows nearer. Derek Astley, the new leaseholder, will be given the keys on the 20th January by Enterprise Inns who have been refurbishing the pub since last September. Well over £400,000 has been spent on a complete change to the pub , transforming it into a beautiful restaurant as well as a brand new pub. . The timetable is that there will be a "Cook In" on the 23rd when the contractors and workers are treated to a meal by Mr Astley to test the kitchens etc. Then the Lord Combermere will open to the public on the 24th.
This refurbishment is a super vote of confidence in Audlem by Enterprise Inns, the country's largest pub company who own some 8500 pubs across Britain.
Let's hope it is a success for all concerned and residents and visitors welcome such a great investment in Audlem's village centre.
