Tuesday Quiz Night
For the past 20 years or more, I have been hosting the Tuesday quiz nights here in Audlem and Hankelow in our pubs . For the last ten years this has been held in the Lord Combermere with Jo and Allan providing the welcome refreshments. And award 7 prizes each night of either a bottle of wine or a voucher at the bar.
This week we held a charity quiz night -- in favour of the Friends of Adderley School .
A very good turn out of both regular quizzers plus guest quiz teams made for a superb night. All team members donated twice their normal quiz fee and this, plus the raffle, meant we were going very well in building a total of £415.00. Then one of our quizzers donated a wonderful £200 on behalf of his company. Add to this a parent of a child at the school donated a further £250!!
This gave us a total of £865.00 -- a very high figure indeed. But I had been told by a very kind benefactor that he would match the sum that was raised on the night. As such we made the fantastic sum of £1730.00. One of the very best charity nights we have had and one that will be so wonderful for the school.
My sincere thanks to all quiz teams, to Mr Chester, the parent -- and to our two very kind and anonymous benefactors for such a fine result.
Charity Quiz nights
Charity Quiz nights are held every now and then, and are primarily to the benefit of local groups. The next will be on the 31st of March when all our efforts will benefit that wonderful group, Audlem and District Amenities Society (ADAS). .
