I just thought that this may be of interest.
I wonder how any times in your day or week or even your month, do you come across a fifty pound note. I am at present in Spain for a short while. And going to the ATM to withdraw funds, I ask for 120 Euro. Machine delivers two 50's and a 20. So much more common here, and later going to buy my newspaper at 2.20 Euro I present the 50 note. Not even a comment. Change given as normal.
Imagine doing so in our own newsagents!!! And there is a 300 Euro note too.
