Following my report on the damages incurred in the early hours of January 1st, the facts are now known in that a white van veered across the road and hit the trough with much force, damaging the sump and the driver of the vehicle is known.
ADAS have now repaired the trough and replanted it.
My apologies to any who thought I had meant them as guilty parties.
Update — AudlemOnline adds: It was reported by the police at last night's Parish Council meeting that, following the "trough" incident, two arrests have been made for the drunk driving which led to the Road Traffic Accident in which the trough was damaged.
