ARS tackles North Wales path

This month's ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk is a linear hike on Saturday 12th September along the North Wales path between Conwy and Llanfairfechan. It's about 10 miles in length.

There is some height gain but it's not extreme — probably 1,000ft plus over the entire length. The hills are not excessively steep and can be managed by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.

The route takes us out of Conwy, behind Conwy Mountain, then crossing the Synchant Pass before passing behind Penmaenmawr. Here we come across three stone circles which may possibly be the place to stop for lunch. We then proceed along good footpaths with good views for a further few miles before descending on minor roads to Llanfairfechan.

It's then back by train, as the service is reasonably frequent, to take us back to Conwy, when a walk through the town and along by the river will return us to our starting point. If we have to wait in Llanfairfachan a short while, we can always take advantage of one of the local hostelries.

There's an 8.30am start from Audlem car park.
