Audlem Online

Historical Images

This page is part of a project to make available on line the photograph archive that is held by the History Society. Many of these photographs are images of groups of people and part of the project is to try to put names to the individuals on the photographs where these are not already known.

As an experiment to gauge the level of interest in this exercise, we have selected eight such photographs and put them up into a special gallery on the website. The eight images selected are

  • Audlem fire engine and crew in 1935.
  • Audlem firefighters in 1999.
  • a group of cub scouts in 1981.
  • Audlem Football team in about 1940.
  • the Coronation Committee in 1911.
  • Armistice Day in about 1950.
  • Audlem school in the early 1900s.
  • Northen's Buchers shop in 1928.

Three of these images can be accessed directly from the pictures opposite, or any of them can be accessed from the gallery click here.

We would like to be able to add many more names to those shown on the photographs, so we have provided a simple (hopefully) mechanism for entering any further information by anybody.

Please let us know if you can provide any names or other data.
